How Stump Grinding Works

We complete our stump grinding jobs with a specialized machine. Called a stump grinder, it has a spinning cutter wheel that turns the stump into mulch within minutes. We control the depth of the grinding; a shallow depth allows you to replace the tree with grass, while a greater depth makes it easy to plant a new tree. We can also remove the roots as needed. Assuming the tree was healthy, you can keep the mulch to use in your landscaping projects.

Why Hire an Expert Arborist?

Stump grinding may seem like a simple job on the surface, but there are plenty of complications that can arise. From damaging surrounding trees to causing a gas leak, the risks are great. Our certified arborists have the tools and connections needed to do the job safely and effectively. Plus, once the job is done, they serve as your expert guides in replacing the tree.

Stump Grinding FAQs

No, the roots will steadily decompose into the soil.

This will depend on what remains of the roots of the previous tree. If there are little to none, the new tree should be able to form a stable root system.

This is based on your goals. Our standard depth is 16 inches below the ground, though we can reduce this to as little as 4 inches.
